Have you ever got on the phone with someone and didn’t
“vibe” with them for some reason.
The things they had to say were a little off maybe, or they
hesitated or were uncomfortable at moments when they should have been “on it”.
There are certian skill sets that you require to be a really
great network marketer to grow a large organization.
Marketing, lead generation, copywriting skills, recruiting
and team building are muy importante….
but none more important that phone skills.
Especially if you are going to be doing any kind of
cold (gold) calling.
The whole point of marketing online is to get in an offline
conversation. At some point you will need to get on the phone.
This is a relationship business and you must be adept at developing a
relationship over the phone. I’ve found that there are a few things that
have helped me to do this, and there are a few things I can share with you that
will bring a cold relationship to a warm one for you in record time.
#1- Get “in the game”. Does Eli Manning just run in, throw on
his gear and run out on the field? Heck no. There’s a warm up,
there’s strategy, there’s music to motivate, there’s a huge pep
talk, there’s yelling, there’s focus. See what I mean?
Not that you have to do all that, but how about listening
to something motivational before making calls?
Whether it be a training or music or something spiritually
fortifiying. Think of the last call you did that
gave you the result you were after and focus on that. Focus on the positive.
#2- Smile. Be enthusiastic, but not too enthusiastic if you know what I mean.
That could actually be a turn off.
You just want to be friendly and warm, not cold and brash.
Which one would you want to talk to? When you have a
smile on your face, well number one it releases
chemicals that tell your brain you are happy even if your not,
(It’s actually been shown in studies to be just as effective
as antidepressants, but thats a different post) and secondly
you just can’t help but sound a bit more friendly with a smile.
There are two things to remember when calling that will
make a tremendous impact on how your calls are received:
Friends First and Repore Reduces Resistance.
#3- How do you develop repore with your prospect asap?
Ask questions about them.
People love to talk about themselves and will offer you alot
of information about them so that you can qualify them
for your time.
Do NOT foam at the mouth to go off on why
your company is the best company or why you are the best
person to team up with or how they can make millions
in this business, yada, yada, yada.
Now all of these things are good, however if you do not
have a few “openers” to break the ice or if you don’t know
the right questions to ask to qualify them- then all the getting
in the game, smiling, enthusiasm, and repore building won’t matter.
I most definitely had that problem
when I first started cold calling and calling leads and it can
literally be terrifying!
People will hang up on you when you hesitate, and knowing
what to say right away will totally up your game.
Once I learned the skills and the scripts I barely get hang ups,
I have great conversations where I can qualify easily and
when I get messages…. I have people calling ME back wanting
to know more.

during live dials and listen to exactly what is said and
done from someone who makes six figures a month (or
